A Cruise Through Asia

Day 1: First, we would take the plane to go to Hong Kong. We would visit the city and historical places like the Tian Tian Buddha or the Victoria Peak. At the end of day, we’d take the bus to go to the coast and get on a cruise.

Day 2: The next day would be a day to discover chinese food! We’d get off the cruise for the day and go a traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner place. Between meals, of course, we’d have free time to walk around the coastal city of China!

Day 3: The third day, the cruise would take us to South Korea. We’d take a bus to go to Seoul and, as we did in China, visit cultural places of the city like the Gyeongbokgung Palace and the N Seoul Tower. We would sleep at a hotel for the night.

Day 4: The next day we would eat Korean food all day because Korean food is the best! We’d have Korean noodles, kimchi fried rice, bibimbap and samgyeopsal… yummmm!! After dinner, we’ll get on a bus to go to the cruise.

Day 5: The last stop will be Japan. We’ll go to Tokyo and visit the Imperial Palace and East Garden and shop at Nakamise, one of the oldest shopping centers in Japan.

Day 6: The last day we’d have the prefect Japanese lunch and go to the Tokyo airport and go back to France.

Another shooting…

On Tuesday April 3rd, there was a shooting in the Youtube headquarters in San Bruno, California (Northern California.) A woman was found, deceased with a self-inflicted wound, inside the building. Police believed this person was the shooter and later identified her as Nasim Najafi Aghdam, a San Diego resident who was in her late 30s. At least 4 other people were injured during the shooting. One of them hurt their ankle, escaping the gunfire. The motive for the attack is unsure but the same woman is shown accusing Youtube of restricting her videos.
The shooter joins a very short list of female attackers. Between 2000 and 2016 in the US, only 9 incidents out of 220 involved female shooters.

Apartheid

Since we are going to see a play next week at a theater in Paris, we should probably know the basics of the story. It’s about Nelson Mandela, a well known anti-apartheid political leader. But what is Apartheid?

  • Apartheid was a political system in South Africa that began in 1948 and ended in 1991. In Afrikaans, Apartheid means “apartness” which means that the government was about racial segregation.
  • Many laws were made against the non-white population. For example, they had to carry special papers to be able to work or live in a particular area. Two people from different “races” could not marry each other. Non-white people couldn’t even vote!
  • After the system of Apartheid ended, Nelson Mandela became the first black president and was awarded a Nobel Prize for his efforts to restore peace in South Africa.

My mood playlist

These are 5 songs I listen to according to my mood:

  • “Game of Survival” by Ruelle : this is a song that has to be listened to really loud so for me it’s a get motivated song.
  • “New Rules” by Dua Lipa : I think I know almost all the lyrics to this song and it has a great rythm so it’s definitely a sing and dance along song.
  • “Young Dumb & Broke” by Khalid : this is a good song to listen to on the bus when you’re still tired and want to go back to bed.
  • “Heart of Mine” by Peter Salett : this is a really good song to listen to before going to sleep.
  • Jazz songs: I recently just started listening to jazz when I’m working on my homework. Most songs don’t have words so I stay concentrated and there are a lot of good jazz songs to listen to!

If I were in charge…

If I were in charge of my school, I would want to be the cool director and I would want to change 6 things.

  • First, I would install lockers. Lockers are very practical and I think kids need them so their backpacks aren’t too heavy.
  • Second, I would have a variety of sports for the children during school year and not the same every year.
  • I would hire a good cook who prepares healthy meals and from time to time fast food so the students look forward to lunch.
  • I would have students sign up to a football team and cheerleading team because there’s nothing better than school spirit !
  • I would prepare trips to foreign countries for each class so there are no jealous people!
  • Lastly, during summer, I would ask all the teachers to improve their teaching so the students understand what they’re learning and not just writing it down.

FRAT2017

Hey everyone!

Last weekend I went to the Frat. If you don’t know what that it, it’s a huge retreat for 12 000 8th and 9th grade christians in Jambville, France. We left Friday evening and came back Monday night. Did I mention that we had to sleep in tents? Imagine 2 400 tents all in one big forest. Each diocese was divided by villages. Every school would gather in their village to sing, dance and of course, as it’s a christian gathering, to celebrate mass. Every day, all 12 000 kids would go inside this ginormous tent where we would celebrate mass but mostly sing at the top of our lungs. Now you might be thinking “How can you sing christian songs at the top of your lungs?” A band, Glorious, composes christian songs that sound like our pop music. So all the kids loved them! During the day, kids gathered up into small groups from different schools. Within these groups, we got to know each other and play games against another group. It was a chance to meet new people!
Next year, there will be another Frat but in a different place. It’ll be in Lourdes in the south of France. I’m guessing it will be much more comfortable because instead of sleeping in tents, we’ll be sleeping in hotels. If you’re christian and you’re going to be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade go to the Frat 2018, you’ll have so much fun! If you aren’t christian and you think it sounds like fun, you can come anyways! The atmosphere is amazing!

Thanks for reading! Bye!

Best Dinner Party Ever !

The best dinner party for me would be with all the Harry Potter characters. I wouldn’t want to invite the actors. I would love to have the actual characters ! It would be fun to see their personalities and their way they act in real life. I would also invite my sister and my childhood friend because they both love Harry Potter as much as me !

  1. Harry Potter
  2. Hermione Granger
  3. Ron Weasly
  4. Luna Lovegood
  5. Neville Longbottom
  6. Ginny Weasly
  7. Fred Weasly
  8. George Weasly
  9. My sister, Claire
  10. My childhood friend, Ellie

For the meal, we will be eating all the Harry Potter food and drink Butterbeer !

Theater Outing

Last week, the Bilingual Section went on a theater outing to see The Real Importance of Being Earnest. We were a half hour late because of a traffic jam in Paris. When we arrived, we sat down and watched the play. The combination of the actors created a great performance. Their costumes were very well related to the era of the storyline. Talking about the storyline, I had thought it was going to be a spin-off of the actual play but it was in reality the same play. Instead of performing the whole play on stage, they had a screen where they projected a small movie to keep the storyline going. I thought that was a good idea. On stage, the setting was a bit funny. They had huge fake flowers in huge vases, a small table and stools made out of plastic. Finally, I thought it was a confusing but fun play to see.

Paris Beaubourg

During winter vacation, I went to a restaurant in Paris in the Centre Pompidou. The center did not allow cars to drive so we had to park somewhere else. As we walked through the door, I noticed there were numerous people enjoying their meals. The food smelled tasty and there were several choices to choose from in the menu. I took a delicious pizza and my sister took a steak tartare. Steak tartare is uncooked meat. It sounds disgusting but I, who doesn’t usually like meat, find it good. For dessert, I ate a cheesecake and my sister took a moelleux au chocolat (chocolate cake with liquid chocolate in the center). All the desserts were home-made. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food but overpriced for a simple lunch. The decorations were typical parisian decorations and the service was great! I recommend it if you are looking for a fancy lunch or dinner and you can even visit the Centre Pompidou museum after eating.

What am I Grateful for?

Thanksgiving is coming and we need to express our gratitude. Here are three things that I am grateful for :

  • The first thing I am grateful for is to have a roof and to be able to eat three meals a day. Without my parents, I wouldn’t be able to have all that. Most people in India, for example, live in slums and eat at least one meal or maybe none at all!
  • The second thing
  • The last thing that I am grateful for is that this year I have really amazing friends. These friends make me laugh so hard! When I’m feeling down, they cheer me up and then I don’t feel so sad. That is a great feeling. If they have failed their task, though, I am sure to know that my sister will cheer me up for good!
